Most of my professional career has involved working in the real estate and mortgage areas. After several years of private practice I was privileged to serve as in-house counsel for two commercial development companies, The Trammell Crow Company, one of the nation’s premier commercial developers, and American Tower Corporation, a major national developer of cellular towers. I have also served as in-house counsel for two mortgage companies and have worked in the areas of title and escrow for various companies. I spent several years overseeing real estate closings and have developed a deep understanding of escrow and real estate transactions. I have been called as an expert witness in the area of escrow liability.

I have taught real estate classes at North Seattle Community College since 1998. I teach such classes as Escrow, Introduction to Title, Real Estate Fundamentals, Preparation of Purchase and Sale Documents, and Mortgage Originator Ethics. I have taught several classes each year since 2004, providing me with a continuing opportunity to explain complex real estate issues to students.

I have also taught numerous continuing education courses both for attorneys and real estate brokers, as well as making informal presentations to real estate agents and mortgage brokers on various legal issues such as the foreclosure process and bankruptcy law. I have been accredited to teach continuing education courses for real estate agents and brokers since 1991.

My goal is to make complex legal issues understandable to individuals who do not have formal legal training. I enjoy explaining complicated issues such as real estate contracts, mortgage documents, and matters arising in bankruptcy cases to people; I feel that making these issues understandable to my clients is an important part of my function as a lawyer.

I constantly work to broaden my understanding of the areas in which I practice. The law is constantly changing and it is always important to stay abreast of new developments. In addition, I am always looking into new areas of practice where I can put my background to good use while learning new legal skills.

If you would like to work with an attorney who feels it is important to make legal issues readily understandable to you, and takes the time to do so, I would be pleased to assist you
